Hi, I'm Josie!

I’m here to let you know that help is here and you and you your family can get to a better place. Home can start to feel like a calm, fun, enjoyable place instead of feeling like you need to walk on eggshells. Children with big feelings and big worries often trigger big feelings in those around them. Let’s get your kiddo the help they need and give you the support you’ve been looking for.

My life’s work is helping children heal and families connect on a deeper level than they could’ve imagined. I’m passionate about giving little ones the words to express their feelings and giving parents the tools to hear them. I specialize in working with children that feel everything deeply and intensely, who seem to worry about everything and are highly sensitive to the world around them. I also specialize in helping those who have experienced trauma.

I love helping children (and parents) learn creative skills to help navigate intense emotions through mindfulness, deep breathing, art, and movement. Play is such a vital piece of life and I am so grateful I get to help families connect through such fun.

“As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has or ever will have something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.” - Mr. Rogers

A little about my background

  • I have been working with children and families in the mental health field for over a decade.
  • I am a licensed clinical social worker and received my Master’s degree in Social Work from West Chester University. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Delaware.

  • My post-graduate training was through the Family & Play Center Therapy specifically on using Mindfulness Based Play-Family Therapy.
  • I am a fully certified practitioner in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR Institute. This is typically used as a type of trauma therapy but can also help those with anxiety, phobias, self-esteem, and performance related challenges.

  • I have advanced training in using EMDR with children.

  • Additionally, I have advanced training in sand tray therapy, play therapy, expressive arts therapies, and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy.

Outside of the office you'll find me out in nature as much as possible with my puppy. I enjoy yoga, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. I'm always in the midst of a great book or a new project!
